April Showers Bring May Flowers

I had dinner at Em's house after studying for AP tests at the library. I was surprised when I walked into the film of rain outside her house. Finally, perfect rain where it's not freezing, soaking, or obnoxious. There were patches of dark clouds looming very satisfactorily against the blue sky and sunshine (Patrick, I'm sorry Luxembourg clouds don't loom, though I don't know why I'm apologizing, since it doesn't have anything to do with me). I love April showers. It's the kind of weather that probably inspires authors to write insightful novels with symbolism, figurative language, and some sort of underlying theme. In cheesy, chick flicks this weather marks the well-known kissing in the rain scenes where somehow the actors manage to look perfect despite soggy clothes, wet hair, and damp socks. This sort of weather is the unfortunate source of trite sayings, corny displays of affection, and the rising swell of strings climbing to a crescendo in the background. Still, I like standing in rain like this. It makes me want to spin in circles until I fall over and can just lie on the ground laughing with my hair a scraggly mess of wet tangles around my face.
